AGAPE WOMEN’S CONFERENCE IS SET SATURDAY
The Heart to Heart Women’s Outreach Ministry of Agape Family Outreach Church will hold its 2010 Women’s Conference from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday (July 31) at the church, 1811 Newsome Blvd. Lunch will be served and conference T-shirts will be available for $12. JACKSON CO. ESD-2 MEETS AT CCC MONDAY
The Jackson County Emergency Service District (ESD) #1 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday (Aug. 2) at the Carancahua Community Center. Residents of ESD #2 are invited to attend and can address the board during the citizen comments portion of the meeting.

COUNTRY OPRY TUESDAY IN PORT LAVACA
A Country Opry will be presented at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 3) at the Heritage Center, 2104 W. Austin in Port Lavaca. A $4 donation for admission is requested. A pork dinner will be served from 6-7 p.m. for a $6 donation.Proceeds benefit the Calhoun County Senior Citizens. For information call (361) 552-3350.

CofC SPEAKER AUG. 5 NO-COAL COALITION PRES.
Allison Sliva, president of the No-Coal Coalition. will be guest speaker at the Palacios Chamber of Commerce meet at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 5 at the Recreation Center. She will discuss the Coalition’s opposition to the coal-fired White Stallion power plant planned for construction near Wadsworth. The meeting is open to the public. Those intending to eat should notify the Chamber office (972-2615) before noon Aug. 4.

ROBBY DURAN BENEFIT AUG. 7 AT KC HALL
A benefit to help defray medical expenses for Robby Duran will be held Aug. 7 at the KC Hall. Chicken or brisket plates w/trimmings will be on sale staring at 10:30 a.m. for $7.50. A dance with DJ Donald will be from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. for $5 per person. Donations can be made to Robby Duran Cancer Fund at City State Bank of Palacios.
