CofC WINTER TEXANS CHILI SUPPER MON.
The Palacios Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Winter Texans ‘Thank You’ chili supper from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday (Feb. 8) at the KC Hall, 8th and Main. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Palacios Art Colony. For more information, call the Chamber office at 972-2615.

CARANCAHUA COMMUNITY MEETS MONDAY
A Carancahua Community meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday (Feb. 8) at the Carancahua Community Center. All residents of the community are encouraged to attend.

BENEFIT BBQ AT KC HALL ON SATURDAY
The Palacios Supporters will hold a benefit BBQ & 4-Wheeler raffle from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 13) at the KC Hall. BBQ plates are $7.50 with drive thru available. Serving continues (carry out only) after the Valentine parade. Raffle tickets for a 4-wheeler are $20. Proceeds benefit Palacios area youth participating in the Matagorda County Fair.

TIDEHAVEN YOUTH FUND RAISER SAT.
The Tidehaven Youth Boosters will hold a Baked Potato Meal, Auction & Raffle Sunday (Feb. 14) at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing. The meal is 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and auction is at 12:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit Tidehaven 4H and FFA.

‘YEAR OF THE TIGER’ STARTS THIS SUNDAY
Another New Year rolls around this weekend – this time it marks the start of the Year of the Tiger. Sunday (Feb. 14) will be the first day of the Chinese New Year, also known as Tet for Vietnamese. On the Chinese calendar, this will be year 4707.

PALACIOS CITY HALL CLOSED PRESIDENT’S DAY
Palacios City Hall, along with the city’s Recycle Center and Economic Development office, will be closed Monday (Feb. 15) in observance of President’s Day. Garbage collection will not be affected.

PANCAKE SUPPER AT ST. JOHN’S ON FEB. 16
St. John’s Episcopal Church, 3rd & Main, will hold a Pancake Supper from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 16). The cost is $6 per person.

TOPS GROUP LOOKING TO FORM LOCALLY
Persons interested in forming a TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) group in Palacios are asked to call Bej Svatek 972-2699. There must be 5 people willing to join to form a group.
